Best Baby Shampoo and Soap
Baby shampoo is one of those things that many new parents agonize about, but don’t. Soap is not going to kill your baby and it’s not full of poison, so don’t get all weird about it, LOL. Seriously, you millennials kill me sometimes.
Baby Shampoo
Mustela ~ $11/6.7 oz
Our favorite all-around baby shampoo – Mustela is very gentle and won’t strip the oils from their soft hair. Pair the shampoo with the lotion for an all-around solid bath experience.
Burt’s Bees Shampoo ~ $16/21 oz
Burt’s Bees shampoo and body wash has a great lather, a pleasant scent and is gentle on baby’s eyes and skin. An all-around great wash that my family (Melissa) has purchased over and over again.
Johnson’s Baby Shampoo ~ $5/27 oz
Another classic soap that works just fine. It comes in many “flavors” – just make sure you get the “no more tears” formula, which is key.
Aquaphor Baby Shampoo ~ $11/25 oz
Aquaphor knows skin! This tear-free shampoo is made for babies with sensitive skin. Just keep in mind that you won’t get a great lather due to the gentleness of the soap.
Cetaphil Baby Wash ~ $7/13 oz
Dermatologist tested. Cetaphil baby shampoo is tear-free, paraben-free, colorant-free, mineral oil-free, hypoallergenic and has a great lather – all you need is a small amount!
“Natural” Baby Shampoos
For something a little crunchier (and if you can afford it!), check out some of our “natural” favorites. Personally, I would take “no-tears” soaps any day over these natural soaps that can burn baby’s eyes, but that’s a decision for you to weigh.
Earth Mama Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash ~ $7/5.3 oz
Gentle, castile-based soap. Often a choice by hospital NICUs. Complete the set with their lotion!
California Baby Shampoos & Body Washes ~ $varies
This is my (Melissa) go-to for bath time. I find that it lathers nicely and doesn’t bother my baby’s eyes. I really like the pump-style bottle – makes bathing a newborn with one hand easy.
After we’re all done washing, we use the conditioner before finishing the routine with their lotion.
If you buy a soap or shampoo and it doesn’t work for you, you can always try something different, so don’t agonize too much about it.
Rub-a-dub-dub, baby!
Next up is all of our very best baby sleep products. You’re almost halfway, woomp!
