Pregnancy Shoes for Summer
Now that you’re expecting, your feet aren’t just carrying you, they’re carrying baby, too! Three-quarters of pregnant women will experience swollen and achy feet. And guess what? The heat of the summer makes matters worse.
Without further ado, here’s a list of our fave summer shoes to wear during pregnancy.
Rothy’s, The Flat ~ $125
These knit shoes are basically gloves for your feet and will take you from sun-up to sundown in comfort and in style! Plus, we love that they’re totally suitable for work! And as if you needed more convincing, they are sustainable and made through a 3D knitting process using post-consumer plastic water bottles. How cool is that!?
Hoka One One, $160
Light, cushioned and breathable — the Bondi 7 are the most supportive sneaker in the Hoka family. This shoe will undeniably be your pregnant feet’s best friend, as it provides enough support and comfort to carry both you and your bump’s weight. We love the wide toe box for swollen feet, and the mesh finish is perfect for summer. The Bondi 7 may well end up being the one shoe you reach for in your closet on the daily. PS: they are podiatrist approved!
Fitflop Shuv Nubuck Slides ~ $140
Chunky, platform sandals are having a moment, and if you like staying on trend with a bump, we’ve got the shoe for you: The Fitflop Shuv Nubuck slide. These clog-like shoes feature a buttery soft nubuck upper, a built-in arch support, and the brand’s super-cushioned microwobbleboard midsoles. The technology helps absorb shock and diffuse underfoot pressure. Because your hard-working pregnant feet are worth it. If you don’t like chunky, check out their other styles!
Birkenstock Arizona ~ $135
We know you know about Birkenstocks, but… Did you know about their Soft Footbed collection? Let us tell you: they are heavenly. They provide the arch support that Birkenstock shoes all provide, but with an extra cushioning that your overworked feet will welcome. Plus, if your feet swell during pregnancy, you can adjust the upper buckles to give them more room.
Dansko Giana ~ $140
This easy-to-slide-on clog from Dansko will complete and brighten your summer look. I love that they are both stylish and supportive all at once. The footbed has memory foam, so you know your feet will be taken care for.
Avarcas Pons ~ $89
I lived in my Pons throughout my pregnancy, and I still live in them now, 5 years postpartum. These shoes aren’t just easy to slide on (perfect for expecting moms who can’t bend over to tie shoes anymore), the leather also stretches to mold to your feet, which means that no matter how swollen they get, your feet will have the room they need. The Pons Avarcas are extremely versatile — you can wear them with jeans, dresses, shorts… anything! Don’t like coral? Don’t worry — these come in 26 shades (and even in a vegan version).
Teva Hurricane Drift ~ $40
If you’re planning on getting a little adventurous this summer, you can opt for the Teva Hurricane Drift. They are waterproof and stand up to the elements. Plus the hook-and-loop closures allow you to adjust the shoes to your feet for the perfect, secure fit. The cushioned heel is super comfortable and provides good arch support — perfect to wear all day long with your bump tagging along.
Toms ~ $55
TOMS are basically slippers, except you can take them out on the street. So let’s just say, your pregnant-mama feet need them. The canvas is supple and stretches to mold your foot; plus you can easily fold the back down for a more open fit. I love their retro floral collection for a happy pop of color.
Alohas Marshmallow sandals, $156
Alohas wants to bring you sustainable footwear that still looks good and on trend. These are clunky, but in a good way, and provide ample space and support for your pregnant feet. We love the checkered upper sole too.
Beek Sandals, $260
All Beek shoes and sandals are so comfortable, it’s like walking on clouds. The memory foam molded footbed is great for extra arch and foot support. And they’re stylish to boot.
There you have it — our absolutely favorite summer shoes to take good care of your feet when you’re expecting. Did you have a go-to pair during the hot months? Let us know in the comments!
I loved All Birds! The Tree skippers and loungers were breathable and stretchy which were perfect for my big pregnant feet during the hotter months.
